My -K or -CK Practice Page is a FREEBIE!
Hello Science of Reading friend!
Thank you for checking out this resource. One tricky spelling pattern for students is knowing when to use -K vs. -CK at the end of a word. This practice page helps students build confidence by identifying the vowel sound that comes before the /k/ sound—a key spelling skill!
✨ How it works:
✔ If /k/ follows a long vowel or consonant, we spell it with -K.
✔ If /k/ follows a short vowel sound, we spell it with -CK.
✔ Students will read each word and highlight the letter before the K or CK to reinforce the rule.
This engaging, no-prep activity is perfect for phonics lessons, small group work, or independent practice.
