Description

Hello Science of Reading friend!

Thank you for checking out this resource. I created this worksheet as a fun way to help students understand the three different sounds that ED can make.

  • ED says /id/ or /ed/ when a word ends with a D or a T.
  • ED says /d/ when a word ends with a voiced sound.
  • ED says /t/ when a word ends with an unvoiced sound.

Voiced sounds are when our voice box is on. Touch your throat and say the sound of B. Feel that vibration? That is a voiced sound.

Unvoiced sounds are when our voice box is off. Touch your throat and say the sound P. No vibration! That is an unvoiced sound.
