Hey Science of Reading friend!

If you’re like me, you may have always used a word wall in your classroom, however, research shows us that we do not store words based on visual memory. A sound wall is a better option because it unlocks the code for kids and helps them understand how sounds and symbols work together.

This resource includes a personal sized consonant wall + vowel valley for kids to use at their desks or at a center. They can reference this while teaching about the sound wall, while reading, and while writing.

There are 3 versions of the consonant wall. The first 2 are organized by the way the sound is produced in the mouth. The third version is organized only by sound type.
