Hey Science of Reading Friends!

I made these cards as I have found it difficult for kids to transfer their learning of letters and sounds to blending and decoding when they have memorized a target picture through chants. When the target picture remains the same and is in the middle position (such as A, apple, /a/), it makes it more difficult to remove that target picture as kids no longer need it.

So, I created these cards to include mouth formation pictures to remind students of the sound & how to make it correctly. I also included 5+ pictures featuring real photos and clip art that you can easily change out as you are working on each letter.

25 Alphabet Cards (Q and U are together)

140 Target Pictures

The cards and pictures are not a sound wall and should not be used as such. The target pictures are meant to help kids learn the main sound that the letter represents and is not inclusive of all sound spellings.
