My name is Heidi and I am passionate about giving kids the skills they need before asking them to read. When you have a child who is ready to start reading, this resource will help give them practice reading words, phrases, and sentences!

The skills included are based on my phonics scope & sequence (which all of my decodable resources follow). Everything is STRICTLY aligned to this scope and sequence to ensure 100% readability for students.

These task cards should accompany your instruction with each skill. When you are teaching short A words, you can use the short A cards to give kids a way to practice reading and writing words.

How to use this resource:

• Print the cards on cardstock, if possible, and laminate.
• Place cards in a task card box and use at centers or in small groups.

Kids should practice reading words in isolation first. Then move into phrases, and finally sentences. You can add cards to the task card boxes as kids learn new skills.
