I SPY Phonemic Awareness ALPHABET – Beginning Sound Practice Phonics

Thank you for checking out this resource. I created this as a fun way to practice a VERY important reading skill – identifying beginning sounds!

Please remember that this is a focus on SOUNDS, not letters. So, for the beginning sound /k/, there will be pictures of words that start with the letter C and the letter K as they both represent the /k/ sound. No letters are shown in this activity as it is designed to focus on segmenting the beginning sound.

I recommend using these pages as practice when you are focusing on a particular letter/sound. Connecting your phonemic awareness to your phonics instruction can be very beneficial for your students!
