I created these books as a supplement for your alphabet instruction. I have included my alphabet mnemonics pictures in these books to help reinforce the shape and sound of the lowercase letters.
This set focuses on LONG vowel sounds and is meant to be used when you are teaching LONG vowels in your phonics lessons. The lessons are a half page each and should be used as a warm up when working on phonics skills. You may or may not need all 3 days of lessons.
Why should we align our phonemic awareness instruction with phonics?
The short answer is, this maximizes our instruction time! Phonemic awareness is usually taught as a warm up at the beginning of a lesson. What better way to “warm up” than to get kids listening for the sounds they will be learning about in today’s phonics lesson?
